Guest Blog: Rick Bennett shares TFS news

From Sundance to a National Screen Institute award, there is plenty of exciting news about students, alumni and instructors at the Toronto Film School. Rick Bennett, the Director of Special Projects at the Toronto Film School, shares the good news in this guest blog post.

Toronto Film School graduate Prasanna Paul, who graduated with a Film Production Diploma in 2013, just completed direction on a John Deere Commercial and an American Express Commercial, for advertising giant, Ogilvy and Mather.

Anelle Dehghani, who is in her sixth term of her Film Production Diploma, is having a successful internship with the growing distribution company, Ravens Banner Entertainment.

Another Film Production graduate, Devin Myler, who graduated in 2012, has worked on two feature films and a TVO kids series. He is getting ready to start another series with TVO.

Toronto Film School Film Production instructor Michael Paszt, who is also a Producer at Ravens Banner Entertainment, will be heading to Sundance early next year. Paszt is an Executive Producer of Film Turbo Kid, which has been invited to the Sundance Film Festival, in the midnight category. Turbo Kid is about a young solitary scavenger obsessed with comic books who must face his fears and become a reluctant hero.

Another Film Production instructor at the Toronto Film School, Dusty Mancinelli, had his feature film script, Little Kings, chosen as one of four scripts chosen across Canada for the National Screen Institute’s Features First Program. NSI Features First is a 10-month development training launch pad for producer/writer teams looking to produce their first or second feature film with strong commercial appeal.
