Statement from President Julia Christensen Hughes on Human Rights Violations in Iran

Published on November 24th, 2022. Last updated April 4th, 2023.

Toronto Film School (TFS) and Yorkville University (YU) support the human rights of all peoples, and strongly express condemnation in relation to the persecution occurring in Iran.

Recent escalations of violence, threats to life, and deaths, in relation to protests for freedom, gender equality, and human rights, are incredibly disturbing. We express heartfelt sympathy and utmost concern for the Iranian community in Canada and abroad, including YU and TFS faculty, staff, and students.

If you have been impacted by these violations of human rights, please be reminded of the supports available to you.
