Big Week for Fashion Design Students with Various Competitions

It’s a big week for a number of amazing Fashion Design Diploma students at the Toronto Film School, with two prestigious fashion design competitions culminating the week.

 

Firstly, on Thursday, term three Toronto Film School Fashion Design student, Annie Qu, will compete in the #MustHave16 Summer Dress Competition.

Art of Fashion is hosting the celebratory fashion event at Lodge on Queen. Sponsored by Fashion Group International to showcase all of the finalists’ designs from the #MustHave16 Summer Dress Competition.

One winner will be announced at the event and partner with Fresh Collective to sell their winning design in stores.

The event takes place on Thursday, 12 May from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (EDT)
at Lodge On Queen – 251 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 1Z4. Tickets are $41.62 and can be purchased on Eventbrite.

Then on Saturday, The Heart of Fashion Show, will feature the finalists in the Fabricland Scrubs Design Challenge, featuring three Toronto Film School students.

At this is a one-of-a-kind designer fashion show curated by TNT Fashions and hosted by Jeanne Beker, students will show their statement haute couture pieces, created using surgical scrubs and hospital gowns.

More than 30 students submitted their creative vision of scrub couture and of the five finalists, three were from Toronto Film School: Yanis Allen, Lana Kuidira and Diseiye Thompson.

The five finalists were given three sets of scrubs and hospital gowns generously donated by Cintas, as well as a $500 gift card to Fabricland to purchase additional materials, to bring their design to life for the May 14 Heart of Fashion Show. For more information, click here.
