Frequently Asked Questions About Toronto Film School’s Reopening Plan

1. What does the term ‘remote synchronous learning’ mean?

 

Remote synchronous learning means that you, your instructor and your fellow classmates will engage in course content together via live, scheduled Zoom classes.

 

2. What does ‘mixed delivery’ mean?

 

Mixed delivery of classes means that, while your theoretical courses will continue to be taught online, you will have the option of attending campus for those specific technical courses currently being offered in-class.

 

3. When will we get our class schedules for the Summer Term?

 

Schedules should be available for viewing by the end of the day on Tuesday, July 7.

 

4. How long do we have to decide if we want to continue our studies at Toronto Film School next term?

 

We ask that you please let your program advisors know about your plans for the Summer Term no later than Friday, July 10.

 

5. How will we know which courses are on campus?

 

If the course in question is on campus, your schedule will reflect that by indicating a physical room location.

 

If, after consulting your schedule, you are still unsure whether or not a certain course is being offered on campus, please contact your program advisor and they will assist you.

 

6. I’m not sure if I’m comfortable returning to campus yet. Do I have to?

 

No, you will not be required to return to campus to continue your studies if you do not wish to. Some students will have the opportunity to continue their studies remotely through Zoom. Please contact your Program Director for more information.

 

7. I am unable to return to campus at this time. What are my options?

 

Depending upon the program and the term you are in, there may be options. It is important to contact your Program Director to discuss those options.

 

8. What steps will Toronto Film School be taking to ensure students and staff are safe?

 

To ensure the safety of all our students and staff at Toronto Film School, the following measures are being implemented at all our reopened locations:

 

  • Campus capacity will be reduced to 30 per cent, or less, at all times. Studio classrooms will be limited to a maximum of 10 people, including faculty.

 

  • All reopened sites will be subject to an enhanced cleaning and sanitation program.

 

  • Masks will be mandatory for everyone on campus (exceptions to be authorized by Campus Operations). Security patrols will be in place to ensure people are following campus protocols.

 

  • Enhanced screening protocols at entrances will be staffed by security and operations staff, and all eligible students/staff will need to confirm that they’ve signed a health declaration assessment.

 

  • Stations equipped with hand sanitizer will be strategically placed by the entrance, common areas and classrooms.

 

  • Classes that require the use of specialty equipment or commonly shared elements, will have additional PPE stations with gloves and sanitation wipes.

 

  • Separate disposal bins will be provided for used PPE and emptied before and after each class.

 

  • Access to campus will NOT be granted to anyone not specifically told they are able/required to be present on campus.

 

  • Eligible students will be allowed to access campus no more than 30 minutes prior to the start time of the in-class course they are registered to attend on any given day. Students must leave immediately after the end of their class.

 

  • Faculty are allowed to access campus no more than 30 minutes prior to the start time of the first course they are teaching on any given day, and must leave campus no later than 15 minutes after the last course session they teach that day.

 

  • All other staff – including reception, equipment room staff, academic leadership, and IT – will require approval from Campus Operations to access the premises.

 

  • Student lounges, meeting rooms and offices will be closed until further notice.

 

  • Washrooms will be limited to two people at a time.

 

  • At Davisville Campus, entry to the second floor will be accessed via the elevators (two people at a time), while students will be asked to exit via the stairwell. Students will also be asked to clear out lockers, which will not be accessible throughout this term.

 

9. How many people will be allowed in class at one time?

10. Are the students required to wear masks?

12. Will all equipment (ie sewing machines, cameras, lighting, etc) be sanitized after each use?

 

Yes, all equipment will be sanitized after each use.

 

13. Will the class studios be cleaned after each session?

 

Yes, all campus locations will be subject to an enhanced cleaning and sanitation program, including cleaning after each session.

 

14. What happens if someone tests positive for COVID-19?

 

Toronto Film School will work under the guidance of Toronto Public Health.
